Provincetown--Year 8

Miss B and I returned last Sunday after a week of sitting on the beach--Cape Cod to be specific. Even more specific, Provincetown. Race Point Beach was filled with plenty of gays to go around and it was truly a wonderful experience with the exception of some of the company this year. Douglas and Miss J made their way from Washington DC and NYC respectively. The rest of the usual crew either had to work or events going on and were unable to attend. In an effort to share this wonderful experience with others I invited a friend who had partaken in Ptown 2004. She proved herself to be a great guest and knew the drill of our beach vacation in Ptown, that of simplicity. The major mistake made was saying yes to the alternate friend's friend whom I shall call Paris.

The drill goes like this. Fly into Boston. Arrive in Ptown either via a ferry or meet the others at the airport and drive on up to the Cape. This year we got a mini van and it proved to be a wise investment. Plus Douglas got to drive around a slew of lesbians. What more could we ask for really? Upon arriving, we check in, rearrange the furniture, and just start hanging out. There are very few rules to the house and they are as follows: 1) Don't hang out in the bathroom for too long. With 6 people sharing, it's a get in, get out situation. 2) Clean up after yourself. 3) Do your part in cleaning dishes and cooking. Not too difficult, very straight forward as far as I can tell. Oh and one more, keep the drama at all time low. We are at the beach after all and it's all about one thing--doing nothing! We wake up in the morning, make a little breakfast, pack lunches, go sit on the beach all day. Pretty simple? Yes, I do believe so. And for the most part this year, it went like that.

It was wonderful to see Douglas and Miss J. They are so easy going and we just have so much fun hanging out at night playing cards, games, and drinking a few cocktails. Their culinary skills are top notch as well therefore we always leave this vacation feeling well rested and relaxed. This year we did venture into town at night on two separate occasions (something I usually protest but it didn't bother me this year at all). One night was spent at the lesbian bar Vixen, the other at the leather bar, Purgatory. Mind you it was nothing like the Eagle (what is right?!?) but it was cute enough and our bartender was a nice fella who poured a good drink. The rest of the evenings were spent at home hanging out, laughing, and just having fun...with the exception of being on vacation with Paris and Nicole.

I won't go into too much detail here and those of you whom have heard the story of being on vacation with these two were truly shocked and appalled by the audacity of these "guests" and their behavior, as we all were at the beach house. A few highlights of the week with Paris and Nicole: listening to two drunk girls have sex in the back of a mini van is gross, dramatic phone calls until all hours of the morning aren't considerate to others, being called a fat dyke by a lunatic doesn't mean a whole lot, manhattans should be consumed in no more than a series of one or two per night out...6 each is a bit excessive and makes for a mean drunk, and so on. It was disappointing and on Friday morning Paris and Nicole were asked to leave by yours truly. It made for an exceptionally peaceful Friday and Saturday. Lesson learned = don't invite questionables to the beach. Perhaps next time I will go through a review board. I can only hope that Nicole get some help and pull herself out of the Paris funk. Time will tell. I could have gone in to much more detail but feel it's a mute point. Who gets kicked out of a beach vacation? Paris and Nicole evidently. If you want the full details, buy me a beer and I will devulge. Most whom have heard it react in disgust and jaw drops with the response of "And you didn't kick them out on Wednesday because....?".

On a this weekend note, we were BUSY! We went to see Kristin Hersh at the Make Out Room with Mistycans, Maya, and Whitney who also had her little brother in tow and how cute is he? Very! KH rocked the house and am so lucky to have seen her. After that we wandered over to Mission Bar and had another drink and it was time to go home. Having more than usual on Friday, I spent Saturday feeling like garbage. And I didn't even have that much. Let's face it, I am a wuss. Did make it to yogurt and that helped a lot. We also took in "A Chorus Line" that night at the Curran Theater and it was FABULOUS! Miss B was in heaven as she was in a community theater production of this when in high school. She played Judy. I love musicals and it was really really gay to boot. We also spent quality time with my friend Cheef on Saturday and furthermore on Sunday. Took in Thai brunch in Berkeley. The film "Little Miss Sunshine"--hilarious--go see it now! A couple of beers at Jupiter and then back to SF until Hot Toddie picked him up and burritos for dinner. I am wiped out. I need a weekend from my weekend!
