Mother's Day

Called home to chat with my mom to see how she was doing on Mother's Day. She is my mom afterall and was hoping that one of my siblings had taken her to lunch or done something fun with her. When we were little kids we would go to KFC, get take out and head to Oschner's Park in Baraboo, WI. Her and dad would hang out while we played on the swings, slides, and went to the mini zoo with the monkeys and llamas. I think she loved the fact that she didn't have to cook for a bunch of sprogs and she got to take a nap. Which rarely happened. Once a year I guess on Mother's Day. Unfortunately when I called my mom said she was having a sad day. We chatted a bit, she liked the flowers sent but she just sounded down. My older brother showed up with his 4 kids to have her take care of them while he worked on the farm, something she does all the time now that his wife has left him and he has decided that he doesn't want to be the mom AND the dad. I completely understand why she is sad. She also just turned 66 and things are looking like retirement at all. I really hope there is some relief in sight for her.
